Little Miss H starts Primary School next week. Sob sob sob. It’s going to be a day full of emotion. So I’ve been trying to get as prepared as possible. This includes buying all her school uniform. And of course, the first pair of school shoes is a crucial part of this uniform.
Little feet go through so much. Especially when at school. They run, jump, skip, dance, climb trees and burn off huge amounts of energy. EVERY DAY!
Therefore, the shoes that encase these feet need to be up for the challenge. They also need to be well fitted, hard wearing, comfortable and supportive for growing feet.
Little Miss H loves pink and sparkles and she likes her clothes to be covered in butterflies, flowers and hearts. Which meant it was going to be a tough gig convincing her to wear black shoes to school. So I needed to give her a diverse range of styles to choose from.
Little Miss H’s first pair of school shoes from Jake Shoes
Jake Shoes is an independent family run company who own two large shoe shops in Manchester and Stockport. They also have a fantastic online store which has a huge range of school shoes for girls and boys.
They stock major shoe brands like Kickers, Dr Martin’s, Timberland, Geox and they have the widest selection of the popular brands Converse, Vans and Lelli Kelly. And some styles are available in half sizes and in G width.
Before looking at the website, I had a rough idea of the school shoes that I wanted for Little Miss H. As she is still little they would need to have velcro fastenings so that she could get them on and off easily.
They also had to be pretty. (Little Miss H’s requirement). And I had images of her wearing frilly white ankle socks with cute patent t-bars.
Lelli Kelly Chloe Heart Bar School Shoes in Black Patent
We found the perfect pair. And as soon as Little Miss H saw the Lelli Kelly Chloe Heart Bar School Shoes in Black Patent it was love at first sight.
The shoes fit brilliantly but still have plenty of room for growth (hugely important as Little Miss H seems to have a growth spurt every few weeks). Little Miss H can walk, run and jump in them comfortably and she is also able to put them on herself (which will be useful when she has to change for PE). Plus they have little hearts and sparkles on the toes. So they fulfill Little Miss H’s criteria of being pretty.
Little Miss H genuinely loves them. She asks to wear them everyday. Ever since her school shoes arrived, she’s been hugely excited about her first day at big school and wearing her school uniform.
And she does look as cute as a button in her checked summer dress and black patent school shoes. Far too grown up. But cute as a button.
