This is the ninth of my Our Weekend Happy post. I love writing these posts each week. No matter what kind of weekend we’ve had, It’s so nice to remind myself of all the happy moments from the weekend. I’ve also discovered, that writing these posts starts to get me excited for the coming weekend.
Anyway, in case you haven’t seen my previous Our Weekend Happy posts, it is based on a weekly post that one of my favourite bloggers, Lisa from Mummascribbles writes. I’ve always loved her posts. And so I decided that I wanted to write something similar.
Lisa and I now run Our Weekend Happy as a linky and an Instagram hashtag community. And tomorrow we will be hosting week seven. We would love you to join us and link up any happy blogs or vlogs about your weekend. Also, please remember to use the hashtag #ourweekendhappy for any Instagram photographs from your weekend.
Lisa and I look forward to reading your Our Weekend Happy posts.
Our weekend Happy – #9

A morning sing-along and cleaning
Our weekend began with a morning sing-along on the stairs. For some reason, Mr H couldn’t stop singing Put Yourself In My Place by Kylie Minogue. So he decided to play it on his guitar. This meant that the children started dancing (or spinning around in Little Mister H’s case) and singing along. It was a lovely way to start the weekend.
I then cleaned the bathroom and tidied upstairs while Mr H played with the children downstairs. Then we all got showered and dressed and watched some CBeebies while we waited for Mr H’s parents, Nanna and Grampy, to arrive.
A visit from Nanna and Grampy
Nanna and Grampy arrived at 10:00 in the morning and stayed the whole day. The weather was horrible so we stayed inside the house. Little Miss H and Nanna played lots of imaginary games and did every single jigsaw that we own. And Little Mister H played with Grampy.
It was a lovely family day. We all really enjoyed spending time together. And I love seeing the relationship of the children with their Grandparents. We also ate quite a bit of cake. Always a winner in my book.

A lie in, breakfast in bed and Mother’s Day cuddles
Sunday was Mother’s Day and I got to have a lie in. Yay! The children woke up at 06:00 as usual. But they were quickly taken downstairs by Daddy so that I could have a lie in. I was eventually brought toast and tea in bed and was presented with my Mother’s Day cards. The cards came with big cuddles from both children. Which made me very happy. After another half an hour in bed, I got up, had a shower and got ready to go out. Mr H had already got the children dressed and organised, so I only had to worry about myself.
A Walk in Birchden Wood
We then drove the short distance to Birchden Woods so that we could get some fresh air and have a walk. It was drizzling but we were all dressed for the mud and wet weather, so a little rain didn’t bother us. We had a lovely walk. It was wonderful to see some signs of Spring. And after a day in the house, it was great to get some exercise and be outside.
A Mother’s Day lunch
After our walk, we headed over to ASK Italian to have lunch. I got to drink a glass of prosecco, eat yummy pasta and then have the best pudding in the world. Amazing!
The children were so well-behaved. They were an absolute pleasure to be with. And we all sat at the table happily colouring, doing word searches and chatting merrily. It was a reminder of how much I love to spend time with my little family. They may annoy me every now and then but I’m so lucky to have them in my life.
A relaxing afternoon
Once we got home, Mr H made a cup of tea and Little Mister H went down for a nap. He was so shattered bless him and fell asleep really quickly. Little Miss H, Mr H and I then all sat and had cuddles on the sofa. And Little Miss H enjoyed playing her new Shopkins Happy Places game that I had downloaded onto my iPad the day before. It was so peaceful and relaxing and I even managed to have a sneaky nap curled up on the sofa.
Mr H was lovely all day and let me do whatever I wanted. So at about 15:30, I headed upstairs and did some blogging in bed for a few hours. I was really productive and got a number of exciting guest posts written.
Then it was time for tea and bedtime for the children. Once they were in bed, Mr H and I settled onto the sofa and watched a few episodes of Killjoys – which is the latest box set that we’ve been binge watching. Please tell me that we’re not the only couple who spend most of our Sunday nights watching TV?
Did you have a lovely weekend? Did you have a nice Mother’s Day? If you’ve written about it then please remember to link up to the brand Our Weekend Happy linky (it will be live tomorrow).
Hugs
