This is the eleventh Our Weekend Happy post that I’ve written for this blog. Last week’s post was a little different, as it was a review of our day out at the new Animals of the Ice Age exhibit at Howletts. This post also included my first day in the life video. I’d always assumed that I wasn’t creative enough to produce a Day in the Life video. But I’m really proud of this video. I would love it if you went to take a look and told me what you thought.

My Our Weekend Happy posts are becoming my favourite posts to write and read back. I love writing these posts each week. No matter what kind of weekend we’ve had, It’s so nice to remind myself of all the happy moments from the weekend. I’ve also discovered, that writing these posts starts to get me excited for the coming weekend.

Anyway, in case you haven’t seen my previous Our Weekend Happy posts, it is based on a weekly post that one of my favourite bloggers, Lisa from Mummascribbles writes. I’ve always loved her posts. And so I decided that I wanted to write something similar.

Lisa and I now run Our Weekend Happy as a linky and an Instagram hashtag community. And today we’re hosting week 11. Wed love you to join us and link up any happy blogs or vlogs about your weekend. Also, please remember to use the hashtag #ourweekendhappy for any Instagram photographs from your weekend.

Lisa and I look forward to reading your Our Weekend Happy posts.

A long weekend and a trip to the park

Mr H took both Thursday and Friday off last week. So we once again had a lovely long weekend. I do love these weekends when we get to spend lots of time together as a family.

Although, Thursday was a day of chores. Mr H cleared out the basement, whilst I entertained the children and took them to the park. We’d had a lazy morning in our PJs so the kids were really looking forward to going to the park. We were there for a few hours. Most of the time, Little Miss H and Little Mister H played side by side in the sand pit. They were so happy digging holes and building sand castles.

Little Miss and Little Mister then spent some time on the swings and the slide. Before we headed to the little cafe to get some ice cream. After we’d eaten our ice creams we walked back home to discover that Daddy had successfully tidied the basement and was ready to go food shopping.

Little Miss H went to the supermarket with Daddy, And Little Mister H snuggled on the sofa with me. We even managed a cheeky nap.

A Trip To The Beach at Camber Sands

On Friday, we headed to Camber Sands for a few hours. Camber Sands is an absolutely stunning beach. We have been there once before. Back in November 2016, on a beautiful but freezing cold day. Little Miss H went paddling in the water and got soaked. So, this time, we made sure that we packed lots of extra warm clothes and towels for the children just in case they wanted to go splashing in the sea.

I’m so glad that we did pack lots of warm clothes. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. But there was a really cold wind and it was bracing on the beach.

Nevertheless, we had a fabulous time. The beach really is our family happy place. We ran races in the sand, made big footprints, built sandcastles and paddled in the water. Then once we’d had enough fun and the children were beginning to get tired and grumpy we headed back to the car for a car picnic. I love a car picnic. It reminds me of my childhood and all the picnics we had in the car.

We were all exhausted after our busy morning on the beach and so we headed home for a lazy afternoon. And after some snuggles on the sofa, we ate a yummy dinner of fish ‘n’ chips.

Park Run And A Leisurely Morning

On Saturday morning, Mr H went off and did the Park Run. Meanwhile, I got the kids ready for the day. Then while Little Mister H had an early nap and Little Miss played with the doll’s house in her room I was able to get ready leisurely. I’ve decided that I want to start to embrace slow living. So it was fabulous to be able to pick out an outfit, dry my hair properly and put on a full face of make-up (including primer and powder).

Once Mr H was back from his park run, I settled down to a few hours blogging. Then after lunch, Mr H headed off to see the football and I chilled with the children. We played games, did puzzles and did some colouring. The weather was miserable so we were relegated to the house all day. I have to admit that it was quite a boring day but both the children seemed to enjoy it.

A Visit from Auntie B

Little Miss H was so excited about seeing her Auntie B on Sunday. She really does adore her and Auntie B is brilliant with both children. Auntie B arrived at lunchtime but before then Mr H watched the children and I did some more blogging work. And once again, I was able to spend time picking out an outfit and putting my make-up on. I always feel so much better about life and myself when I have made an effort with my appearance.

Once Auntie B had arrived we ate an amazing toad-in-the-hole for lunch. It was scrummy. And both the children ate lots (which is normally unheard of). Then the children spent the rest of the day playing with Auntie B, while Mr H and I got on with some chores. It was another relaxing day but it was wonderful to spend time with family.

Mr H and I did realise that although lazy weekends are sometimes necessary they aren’t great for us. So we have already planned a busy weekend for this weekend. And it is going to be lovely.

Did you have a lovely weekend? If you’ve written about it then please remember to link up to the brand Our Weekend Happy linky (which is now live).

Hugs

Lucy

Oh this sounds like the perfect long weekend. I think I need to get on your boat of blogging whilst Dean is looking after the kids. I never ever blog in the daytime on a weekend! Love your photos from the beach and love the sound of a car picnic! Thanks for being my super duper host of #ourweekendhappy

Sounds like a nice, steady paced weekend. Sometimes we all need one of these to recharge a bit…or for the DIY, which is what we spent one of our days doing over Easter! Your beach photos look amazing; I really miss the seaside, would love to live near one!
