Mr H and I are currently going through the house decluttering. And although, I’m trying to be ruthless there are some items that I just won’t part with. These are usually items that bring back precious family memories. Memories that I cherish and that I want to be able to treasure and hold onto. I also want to be able to pass these possessions onto my children when they are older.
However, I worry that these precious items will be mislaid if they are stored in the basement or loft. (In fact, I think that Little Mister H’s first sleepsuit may have disappeared into the loft never to return. Sob!). Instead, I want to be able to keep them all in one place. I want them stored somewhere that I can easily access. And I want them somewhere close to me, so I can look at them often and take a trip down memory lane. That is why I’m joining in with online bed retailer Bed Guru and their #storeyourmemories campaign.
Store Your Memories With An Ottoman Bed
Bed Guru are sleep specialists and they want to ensure that everybody gets a great night’s sleep. They don’t want you having sleepless nights, worried about where your childhood toy or your babies first sleepsuit is stored. Now you can rest peacefully knowing that year’s of family memorabilia are stored safely in an Ottoman Bed. An Ottoman bed really is the ideal place to store your memories.
“Bed Guru beds last a long time and your memories will last even longer.”
I recently gave Little Miss H my most beloved toy from when I was a child, Matilda Moppet. Matilda may have seen better days and she may now look a little scary. But I loved her so much when I was a little girl and it makes me very happy knowing that she now gets cuddles from my little girl.
I’m lucky that my parents have kept many treasured possessions from my childhood. I now have some of these and I’ve already been able to pass them on to my children. So Little Miss H has Matilda Moppet and Little Mister H has my teddy bear, Hector (Little Mister H’s middle name).
Storing Our Memories
Our two most treasured possessions are Little Miss H’s Maxi Monkey and the Little Nutbrown Hare that Little Miss gave to her baby brother when she first met him. I remember her clutching on to the toy for dear life. Excited but nervous to meet her baby brother. Then she gently placed the little hare in the cot next to her brother and smiled sweetly. It was magical and that toy will always remind me of that moment.
Little Miss H has had Maxi Monkey since the day she was born. We had slept with him in our bed for a month before her arrival so that he smelt of us. And when Little Miss was a day old, Mr H sat holding her and telling her the story of how Maxi got his comforter. I was drifting in and out of sleep (I was exhausted and anaemic after the birth) but I remember the tale involved an evil giraffe and Maxi Monkey’s comfort blanket had magical powers.
These are memories that I never want to forget. In years to come, I want to be able to share them with Little Miss and Little Mister. And wouldn’t it be wonderful if one day they want to tell their children all about silly Grandpa’s story about a monkey and a giraffe? That is why it’s important to store your memories safely. Using an Ottoman bed to store booties, blankets and cardigans knitted by Nanna, heirlooms from my Grandparents, first toys, beautifully handmade patchwork blankets, scan photos, my Baby On Board Badge and our favourite bedtime story is the best way to protect these memories.
What precious family items would you want to store safely in a Bed Guru Ottoman Bed?
