When you’re someone that really want to see the world, that burning itch to get outside and actually do never leaves you. If you know that there are key destinations you want to see and explore, you’re going to want to start acting on them – and soon. Because when you try to suppress your desires too much, they’ll often get stronger. Maybe you haven’t even written out your travel bucket list yet? Then you’re definitely not the only one. But it’s something that you should look to start. If you want to start travelling then you definitely need a plan. And that all starts with your travel bucket list. It’s highly likely that you know where you’d like to go, but you really do need to start acting on it. So that’s what we’re going to help you with.

Whether you want to be able to see the entire world – or most of it, or just visit the key locations you have in your mind, it’s time to tackle it. So here’s what you need to do to start making your travel goals a reality.

Is It Time To Tackle Your Travel Bucket List?

Write A List

Okay, so to kick things off, you’re going to want to write out your travel bucket list. And this can be tough. Because when it comes to getting everything down, your mind can go blank. But just start off by writing out the places that you know you’re dying to see. As you start wiring and compiling places, you may find that you’re inspiring and places and ideas start to flow a lot more naturally.

If you get two or three places down and you’re stuck, dig around online. Lots of people post their travel bucket lists, and this may inspire you to start thinking about where you really might want to go and what you might want to do.

Do Some Research

Then, you’ll want to do some research. Read travel blogs and websites, magazines and books. Uncover information about the places that you’re dying to see. At this stage, it’s also likely that you’re going to find new places to add to your list too. And that’s the beauty of keeping a list. Whenever you do find something new, it can be so exciting and inspiring, but you can just add it to the list!

Highlight Your Favourites

Then, at this stage, you’re going to want to work out which ones are your favourites. So really sit down and spend some time thinking about where you’d really like to go first. Perhaps within the next year or so. But be realistic. Don’t choose all of the super expensive or big or wild adventures if you know that you won’t be able to do them. Here, starting off with something small is often a good idea. But still, highlight a few of your favourites that you’d like to embark on first.

Look For Incredible Experiences

From here, you’re then going to want to add to your list. Because most of the time, when we think about a bucket list, we think of the countries we want to visit, or the locations, or even the hotels. But your travel bucket list really doesn’t have to be limited to these. Because with experiences like Lapland husky safaris, hiking the Inca Trail, or driving through Route 66, these may be what you want to add too. So again, do a little research here.

Find The Best Restaurants

Another kind of thing that you can add to your bucket list, is restaurants. If you’re a foodie, then why not add some of the most incredible restaurants around the world to your list? Or, as you’re looking into each of the places that you want to visit, find great restaurants in the area so that you know there’s something to enjoy when you’re there.

Start To Plan Your First Trip

Then, you’re going to want to think about planning your very first trip. And this is where things can get fun. Don’t let yourself stress out about what you’re trying to do. Instead, you’re going to want to enjoy the process. Write down everything that you would love to do, search for flights, the perfect accommodation, and what you’d like to do when you’re there.

Come Up With A Budget

At this point, you’re going to start to see some rough figures flying around. So you’re also going to want to come up with a realistic budget. It should be something that you can actually get what you want to do out of, but also that you can still afford.

Save Some Money

And then, it’s time to start saving. Now, saving money to travel can feel incredibly tough. But it’s really not. You just need to make sure that you’re inspired and on-track at all times. Because when you’re feeling motivated and excited for your trip, it will be easy to put that money you’d usually spend in Starbucks into a savings account that week instead!

Pack Well

Okay, and then, you just need to nail your packing. And this can be the easier part for a lot of people. Maybe you’re going to Paris for a few days or you want to lay on the beach in Bali for a month? Then a lot of the time, the destination or the kind of trip you’re going to have can tell you what you need to pack. But just remember not to go too overboard, because you won’t want to lu too much around with you.

And Start

But then, you just need to get started. Because starting is half the battle. Book that flight, find that accommodation, start to save, tell people that you’re traveling or heading to a certain location. Just take that first step. If you don’t, then your bucket list will stay full. Most of the time, we’re afraid to make a change or to do something new. And that’s natural. But you’ll never reach your dreams while in that frame of mind. So now, using the nine points above, you know what to do – and it’s time to chase your dreams.

What destinations are on your travel bucket list?
