When pregnancy is a struggle

A blurry and black and white photograph of a pregnant lady _ including the title "when pregnancy is a struggle" _ Mrs H's favourite things

It is difficult to admit that something you have yearned for desperately has been a struggle. Ever since Little Miss H has been a few months old, I have wanted a second baby. The miscarriages that followed just made my desperation for that child more intense. Each loss took us further away from our longed for second child. But each loss made me more determined that we needed to become a family of four.…

A photograph of a 32 week pregnant lady with brunette hair, wearing a light green t-shirt and bright red lipstick - with the titile "32 week pregnant - Piriformis Syndrome and the Fear" - Mrs H's favourite things

First of all I have an admission to make I am not 32 weeks pregnant. I am now 33 weeks pregnant and this update is a week late. Sorry. There are only 7 weeks until I reach my due date. I am on the final stretch. How did that happen? The past few months seem to have passed in a blur. And now here I am thinking about my birth plan and what I need to pack in my hospital bag.…

Looking after sensitive skin during pregnancy

A photograph of a brunette lady with minimal make-up, natural skin, a side ponytail and wearing a blue and white striped top - includes the title "Pregnancy skincare for sensitive skin -tips, products and routines". _ Mrs H's favourite things

I have extremely sensitive skin and there have been many times when I have had an allergic reaction to a product that claimed to be hypoallergenic. As I have got older my skin has become even more sensitive and now, in my late 30's, I've developed rosacea. A skin condition that leads to a reddening of the face. It also often leads to my skin feeling sore and itchy, with nasty spots. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and I have been…

The body confidence challenge

A pretty brunette lady sits in a restaurant with her head tilted to one side and smiling _ includes the title "The body confidence challenge" - Mrs H's favourite things

A few weeks ago, the lovely Jules who blogs at Pondering Parenthood tagged me to take part in the body confidence challenge. The challenge was originally created by Eilidh at Mummy and Monkeys. Elidih pointed out that we very rarely look in the mirror and see something we like. It is much easier to find the things that you dislike or want to change. But isn't it time we were kinder to ourselves? Isn't it time we take a moment to really…

My Monthly Bucket List – May 2016

A photograph of a red children's bucket containing a yellow spade and some green sand moulds sits on a beautiful sandy beach, with a crystal clear blue ocean and blue skies with wispy clouds in the background - includes the title "Monthly Bucket List - May 2016" - Mrs H's favourite things

Where did April go? The past few months seem to have been flashing before my eyes. I'm in shock that we are now entering the fifth month of the year. I can't quite believe that in less than three months, we will hopefully get to meet Little Mister H and our second rainbow baby will complete our family. I know that the next few months will fly by. And yet we have so much that we need to do before baby boy…

Nursery inspiration for small rooms

A wish list for Little Mister H's small nursery filled with white furniture and yellow and rainbow accessories - featuring products from Urbane by Boori, Not on the High Street, Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks, IKEA and Great Little Trading Company. Includes the blog post title "Nursery inspiration for small rooms: Little Mister H's rainbow themed nursery" _ Mrs H's favourite things

Little Mister H is due in July. And when he arrives his nursery will occupy the smallest room in the house. At the moment, this room is a glorified dumping ground. It is filled with storage boxes and is where we dry all our clothes. It houses our double sofa bed and so can be transformed into a guest room. But when the sofa bed is open there isn't enough room to close the bedroom door. We are going to have to use…
