Goodbye 2015

Happy New Year, dear readers. I hope you all celebrated New Year's Eve in style. We had a very quiet night in. Mr H and I celebrated by eating steak and chips and by playing lots of Wii and board games. It was very low key but it was lovely to spend the evening with my wonderful husband. It is now 2nd January 2016 and it is about time that I did a little review of 2015. 2015 was an odd year. It wasn't…

37 lessons for 37 years

A photograph of a muddy puddle filled with flower petals and with a mummy and her daughter standing in it - the mum is wearing navy blue and white polka dot wellies and the little girl wears pink shiny wellies - 37 Lessons for 37 Years - Mrs H's favourite things

Today is my birthday. I am now 37 years old. I am not entirely sure how it happened but I appear to have entered my late thirties. Three years of the big 4-0. And it actually feels good. I spent much of my twenties deeply unhappy. My thirties have been a turning point for me. I am now happier in my own skin. And although I still have days when I struggle, I know what I need to do to make myself…

73 Questions

73 questions

I think I must have been living under a rock for the past year. Until Sunday, I had never heard of Vogue's "73 Questions" interview series. Thanks to my good friend Heledd who writes the gorgeous blog Running in Lavender for enlightening me. Inspired by these videos and Heledd's fabulous post, I decided to tackle the 73 questions myself. Zoella was one of the first blogs I read.   Zoe Suggs, the woman behind Zoella, came across as a sweet and lovely 24 year-old with an interest in fashion and beauty. I warmed to her personality, quirkiness and writing style. She covered topics that I found interesting. I enjoyed her sweet friendship with fellow blogger Louise at Sprinkle of Glitter. And I admired the honest way she wrote about her struggles with anxiety. Zoella doesn’t drink, smoke or take…

Faking it – pretending to be a mummy blogger

Apparently, I am a mummy blogger. I am not sure when this happened. I can’t deny it is true. I am a mum. I blog. It stands to reason that I have entered the club of parental blogdom. It is a large club. All the members I’ve spoken to are lovely, friendly and willing to offer advice and help. I’ve had many a happy twitter conversation with a fellow mummy blogger. Yet, I still feel like an interloper. A gate…
