Blogging might seem like an easy ride to some. You can make money when you blog consistently, but it’s by no means an easy thing to do. In fact, you might be surprised when you realize what running a successful blog actually takes. Want to learn more? Read on for a few surprising things you should know:

Some Pretty Surprising Things You Should Know About Blogging

Your Blog Could Potentially Make A Lot Of Money

Yes, a successful blog can potentially make a lot of money. However, only 2% bloggers make more than $150K per year. You have a one in five chance of making a living from your blog, and around 81% of bloggers never make $100 from blogging. This means that starting a blog does not mean that an income is guaranteed. It takes work and commitment to make money from blogging. It also means spending money to make money, such as on software like the automated solution for KYC compliance. Being able to save time with apps and other bits of kit means you can spend more time doing what you love.

You Might Spend Longer Than You Think Creating A Blog Post

Most bloggers find that they can be a bit obsessive when they are creating their blog posts. In fact, many of their posts take them much longer than they think. If you want to make a living blogging, or at least make a name for yourself as a blogger, then you might find yourself spending 60 hours or more per week working on your blog. That’s a full time blog!

Even in the beginning, it might be like having a part time job. For example, you not only need to write posts and publish them. You’ll want to do the following to experience success:

  • Spell and grammar check posts
  • Take nice pictures
  • Edit your pictures to make them more attractive
  • Format posts
  • Promote your blogs on social media
  • Interact with people who read your posts and comment
  • Get involved with the blogging community in other ways
  • Schedule your weekly posts so that you’re organized and ensure you have consistent fresh content
  • Stay on top of spam

There may even be other steps you need to take on top of this, depending on what your goals are.

Blogging Can Be Lonely

Although there is a supportive online community, blogging can actually be a lonely thing to do. You may have plenty of online friends, but in real life, you might have no one who understands your high points and low points. You have nobody to celebrate with you when a post goes viral or you hit another huge milestone, and nobody to bounce ideas off. This isn’t always the case, but it’s something to bear in mind.

You’ll Never Complete Your To Do List

There’s always going to be something else that you’re adding to your to-do list. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t schedule things in and stay on the ball – it just means you shouldn’t beat yourself up!
