It is great to see the weather changing and getting warmer. We’ve not had a particularly cold winter. But, it will be nice to be able to leave the coats at home. So, naturally, my thoughts are turning to updating everyone’s wardrobe to make sure that they have some nice warm weather clothes. Buying some shorts, t-shirts and other lightweight clothing in advance means the first time we have a warm day everyone will be able to get outside and take advantage of the sunshine.
SS19 Menswear Trends
So, I’ve been browsing through several fashion retail sites including jacamo.co.uk. Interestingly, I discovered that this retailer is no longer just catering for big and tall men. They now stock clothing for every shape and size and from the looks of things they are also very on trend. Here are a few items from their spring collection that stood out to me.
Chino Shorts
Chinos are very popular with men. They are practical, versatile, hardwearing and look good. So, it is nice to see them being made available as shorts. These are going to be very popular with men of all ages.
Cargo Shorts
You can also expect to see more men wearing cargo shorts. Again, these are very practical and hardwearing. Keep an eye out for cargo inspired swim shorts.
Longer Shorts
In general, for SS19 men’s shorts are getting longer. A lot of them finish just above the knee and you can expect to see a lot of ¾ length versions available in the shops.
The Denim Trend
For cooler days denim is set to be the go-to fabric. As usual, jeans are everywhere, but, this year, there is a much bigger selection of denim shorts, shirts and jackets, available. Layering denim was a big trend for women, a couple of years ago, and it appears that menswear designers have adopted it for spring 2019. If you want to know how to pull it off as a man, you can find out here.
The Acid House Influence
For the 2nd year running the influence of the 80s is clear to see, in particular, acid house. Bucket hats paired with windbreakers and trousers instead of jeans is a look you can expect to see a lot of. The colours are bright, but the prints are not as bold as they were in the 80s.
Bigger And Baggier Hoodies
Hoodies never really go completely out of fashion, which is a good thing because they are so versatile. They are an especially good option for the spring when you are not sure what the weather is going to do. A hoodie can be taken off and stuck in a backpack when the sun comes out and put back on later. This year’s versions are a bit bigger and baggier. It is wise to bear this in mind when deciding which size to buy.
Long Length T-shirts
This year, t-shirts are far longer. That means mid-hip instead of just below the waist. Black and dark blues are set to be the main colours.
