With spring just around the corner, my thoughts are turning to gardening. Having a garden is wonderful. Once the weather has warmed up, there is nothing better than spending time outdoors with friends and family. It is very relaxing and a great way to enjoy some of what nature has to offer.

The other day I was browsing this website and came across their spruce page. I was both amazed and captivated.

Using Spruce Trees To Spruce Up Your Garden

Spruce trees are wonderful. Their striking shape gives them the potential to be a fantastic addition to any garden. So, I thought I would take a closer look and come up with some suggestions to help you to use them to enhance your outside spaces.

Plant Spruces In Pots

Even if you do not have much space, you can potentially still enjoy these beautiful trees. There are several varieties that do not grow very big, which means that you can plant them in pots and have them on your deck or patio. In fact, it is even possible to grow some dwarf varieties indoors.

You just need to select the right varieties and place them somewhere they can get enough light to be able to thrive. There are plenty of places online where you can find out how to grow them like this.

Use Spruces To Create A Focal Point In Your Garden

Creating a focal point in your garden is an effective way to draw the eye and create interesting vistas. The bold shape of spruce trees, vibrant colours and eye-catching leaves make them ideal for this job.

Choose one that has a well-defined shape. For example, a Dwarf Alberta Spruce which is shaped like a cone or a plump, round Little Gem Norway Spruce can both be used to create an eye-catching feature.

Use Spruces To Divide Up Your Outdoor Spaces

It is also possible to plant spruce trees close together, in a row, to form a green screen. They are a really good option when you want to divide up your garden into distinctive spaces.

Add A Splash Of Colour To Your Garden

Spruce trees come in a huge array of different tones and colours. So, it is easy to use them to create a splash of colour in a garden that is mostly green. The fact that they are evergreen means that you can enjoy them year round. If this is your main aim, take a look at the Blues Weeping Colorado Spruce, the Hoopsi Blue Spruce and the Fat Albert Colorado Blue Spruce. They would all look fantastic in any garden.

Choosing The Right Spruce For Your Garden

Once you have found one you like to plant, take the time to check that it is suitable for planting in your garden. Spruces are hardy trees once they become established. But, they do not do well if the conditions are not right. So, do your homework to make sure that you do not end up wasting time and money.
