If you find yourself feeling sluggish or tired, one reason might be a lack of sleep or not getting a good night’s rest. This is important for your body because, without sleep, your body can’t perform at it’s best. So here are some tips on a good sleep routine to improve your health.
Tips On A Good Sleep Routine To Improve Your Health
Set A Trigger
Part of the problem of getting to sleep is that if you just jump into bed straight away, your body isn’t going to be relaxed enough to just fall asleep. That’s why you need a trigger so that you can allow your body to recognise that it’s time to unwind and get ready for bed. This might be putting your pyjamas on at a specific time each night, having a cup of tea or taking off your makeup. Whatever it is just make sure you do it an hour before you hit the pillow.
Reduce Your Caffeine Intake
Caffeine is a problem for your body when it comes to drinking it later in the day. It provides you with energy and the last thing you want before going bed is to have a burst of energy that leaves you staring at the ceiling for hours. Try to reduce your caffeine intake and make sure that you only drink coffee in the mornings and stop by the early afternoon. This will give your body the chance to come down from the caffeine hit.
Get A New Mattress
Sometimes, the reason why you’re having a bad night’s sleep is because of the mattress you’re sleeping on. If it’s over eight years old or it’s at a point where you can feel the springs, you probably need a new one. As a starting point, the silentnight mattresses are very good quality and are popular because they have over sixty years of experience within the industry of mattress making!
Remove Electronic Devices
Electronic devices all emit blue light, which tricks your brain into thinking that it’s still daytime. Bright light is also quite harsh and can make you feel more awake than you want to be. To reduce blue light, you can always purchase glasses that block it. Otherwise, try to remove any electronic devices from your bedroom so that you don’t get tempted to start watching something in bed or scroll through your social feeds.
Try Sprays And Oils
Sprays and oils are an alternative to helping get a good night’s sleep. You might want to experiment with different scents and using a diffuser to help gently disperse the fragrance into the atmosphere. Sprays are effectively the same thing, but instead of being constant, they’re highly concentrated with ingredients that relax and calm your mind. Simply spritzing it into the bedroom before you get into bed will hopefully help ease you off to sleep quickly.
When you get a good night’s sleep, you end up feeling so much better for it, so use these tips if you’re having trouble with your sleep routine at the moment.
