AD – We were sent these products from Balmonds for the purpose of this review. As always all words and opinions are 100% honest and 100% my own.
Both the kids and I suffer from dry and sensitive skin. I can use very few skincare products without my skin reacting. And although Little Miss H has mild eczema that she mostly gets in the winter months, Little Mister H suffers terribly with eczema. It is all over his body but the eczema on his bottom is particularly bad and prone to becoming very sore and irritable.
So when Balmonds offered to send me some of their products to try on our dry and sensitive skin and Little Mister H’s eczema, I was keen to see whether their products would make much difference. As we have really struggled to find anything that soothes his eczema without irritating or exacerbating it further.
Dealing With Sensitive Skin And Eczema With Balmonds
Once I had spoken to Balmonds about our skincare needs, we were sent the following products:
Skin Salvation
The eczema on Little Mister H’s bottom has been particularly bad recently. It has been sore and prone to open sores. So I have wanted to use a really natural and gentle product to soothe and take some of the itchiness away.
Balmonds Skin Salvation is a safe and non-stinging (very important when dealing with eczema which is already very sore) and 100% natural emollient. It is made with traditional herbal botanicals and is specially formulated to protect, nourish and hydrate sore and irritated skin.
Being fragrance-free and 100% natural meant I could relax about the Skin Salvation containing any nasties. It is a beeswax-based salve that is made in Balmonds’ Brighton workshop and it really is the star of the show.
We used it when the eczema on Little Mister H’s s bottom had broken down and become particularly sore and yet was still itchy and causing Little Mister H a great deal of irritation. The salve instantly soothed Little Mister H’s skin and took away the itchiness. It also helped to heal the open sores, which meant we were then able to use other products on his skin.
We had, of course, patch tested a small amount of skin with the product before using it on Little Mister H’s eczema. It is so important to carry out a patch test before using any new product especially if you have sensitive skin.
Daily Moisturising Cream
Once the sores on Little Mister H’s bottom had got better we were able to start using other products on his eczema. We tried the Daily Moisturing Cream.
This cream is based on the award-winning Skin Salvation ointment. The beeswax has been replaced by moisturising shea butter. So it is suitable for vegans. It also means that the cream is softer and more easily absorbed.
As I said we used this on Little Mister H’s eczema and it left his skin soothed and moisturised. It helped with the dry skin that is common in eczema. And I was also reassured, that because it was perfume and petro-chemical free it wouldn’t irritate Little Mister H’s very delicate skin.
I, also, used the cream as a hand cream and a moisturising cream for my face. In each case, it left my skin softer and well-moisturised. I had some very dry and sensitive skin on both my hands and face and it dealt with this well.
Intensive Hand Cream
I can’t use many hand creams because they seem to dry out the already dry skin on my hands. But I found Balmonds’ Intensive Hand Cream to be soothing and very moisturising. I love smothering it on at night and letting it work its magic while I sleep. It left my skin silky soft and well moisturised.
Bath And Body Oil
Once again, the Bath and Body Oil is made from 100% natural ingredients. It is suitable for all ages and skin types. Including babies that are 6 weeks and older. It is free from parabens, petrochemicals, preservatives or perfumes. It is cruelty-free and suitable for vegans.
I used the Bath and Body Oil mainly on myself. I put it in the bath and used it on my skin after a shower. It was beautiful in the bath and leaves skin wonderfully moisturised. It is also brilliant at locking in moisture after a shower. I often get very dry skin on my legs in winter. And Balmonds Bath and Body Oil has really helped moisturise the chapped skin on my legs.
