Little Miss H loves imaginative play and has an amazing imagination. She can spend hours wearing dressing costumes, cooking in her kitchen or playing mummies with her dolls. And she is especially fond of throwing a tea party. She likes to invite her teddy’s and her baby brother along and pour them tea and serve them imaginary cake. So when we were offered the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set to review I knew that it would make her extremely happy.
Imaginative Play With The Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set
Little Miss H was excited as soon as she saw the box for the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set. And as a fan of cake, she was especially thrilled to see the cake stand which she could fill with the toy Mr Kipling cakes. And there are most of Mr Kipling’s classic cakes in this set – including a piece of Battenburg, an angel slice, French Fancies and the cutest little Cherry Bakewell.
The cakes come on a brilliant two tier cake stand. And each cake has a different shape on the bottom that corresponds to a shape on the cake stand. Little Mister H, at 20 months old, loves to watch his sister taking the cakes on and off the cake stand. He then likes to try and copy her by matching up the shapes. This is one of my favourite elements of the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set. Not only is it a fabulous toy for promoting role play but it is also educational with a shape sorting element.
The Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set also comes with an 18 piece tea set. Because everyone needs a cup of tea with their yummy cake.
Why we love the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set
Normally tea sets are pink or are adorned with floral designs. And are clearly designed for girls. But roleplay is gender neutral and so I was really pleased to see that this tea set is in bright colours – blue, green, yellow and purple.
Both children love playing with the tea set. Little Miss H likes to make herself a cup of tea. At the moment, she seems to have seven spoons of sugar in her tea. Definitely, something we need to sort out before she starts to drink real tea. She also likes to hoard all the cakes.
Little Miss H continued her role play by taking the cakes to her kitchen. She would then imagine that she was baking them to serve at a great banquet. So as a parent, I love that my children are able to play with the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set in as many ways as their imagination allows.
It was great to see that Little Mister H also wanted to play with the Tea Set. He loves to play with the big sister that he adores and he likes to copy everything she does. And it is so gorgeous to watch them playing side by side. And I especially love it when Little Miss helps to pour her brother a cup of tea and makes sure that his plate is filled with cake.
Other pros to the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set
1. The cake stand is easy to set up and even comes with two little Mr Kipling branded stickers to add to the top.
2. This is a toy that doesn’t require batteries. Hurrah!
3. The cakes, cake stand and tea set are all very sturdy and even survived Little Mister H.
4. The Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set is fabulous quality. With all the products being in bright bold colours that are especially appealing.
5. It keeps the children amused for a very long time. I set the tea set up on Tuesday when we were snowed in and Little Miss H couldn’t go to school. And both children played happily with the tea set for almost an hour. There was also the added bonus that they played nicely and there weren’t any fights.
Cons of the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set
As far as I can see there is only one con to the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set. It will make you want to head to your nearest supermarket and stock up on all of Mr Kipling’s classic cakes. Thankfully, I did this before we started playing so eventually the toy French Fancies were replaced with the real thing.
The Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set is available to buy from Casdon’s website. This fabulous pretend play toy has an age range of 3-8 years and retails at £11.99.
We were kindly sent the Casdon Mr Kipling Tea Set free of charge for the purposes of this review. But as always all words, opinions and images are my own. The children do genuinely love this toy and play with it every day.
