September is here. Little Miss H has returned to school and Little Mister H has started pre-school for the first time. The summer is officially over. And with it, the wonderful memories we have of the summer holidays drift away in a haze. But there are many happy memories to remember. So I would like to share a few of these with you, my dear readers.
Snapshots Of Our Summer
Playing In The Paddling Pool
We have had many lovely warm days this summer. When the weather is hot, there is nothing my children like more than getting the paddling pool out and having a splash around. It is one of their favourite activities. And they’ve had many happy days over the summer trying to soak me by jumping into the paddling pool.

Days Out With The Family
Smallhythe Place
We visited this National Trust property at the beginning of the holidays. It is a quaint little house with a theatre attached. And we had a gorgeous day there playing croquet in the gardens, doing a treasure hunt in the house and hiding in hedges. We even managed to get a photo of me with the children – something that never happens!

Runnymede
We used to go to Runnymede all the time when I was a child. I have many fond memories of days there with my grandparents having a picnic by the river. So it was lovely to pop by there when we were on our way back from my parents’ house.

Our Cruise To Norway
Back in the second week of August, we went on our first cruise holiday. We sailed on the P&O Cruises ship Azura to Norway. The holiday was to celebrate my parent’s golden wedding anniversary. And the whole family came along – so there was a group of 13 of us travelling.
It was the most amazing holiday. We all had a fabulous time but Little Miss H had the time of her life. She got to spend lots of time with her cousins and loved going to the kids’ club.
We also got to have many lovely trips out to visit some small towns in Norway. The scenery was stunning. Imagine lots of green and lush mountains peeking out of clouds.
The sea days were great with lots of fun activities put on for our entertainment. We went to quizzes, bingo, shows, the cinema and spent time in and by the pool. I even went to a small singing group with my Mum.
It was truly a magical holiday and one that I will never forget.

Staying At My Parents’ House
Towards the end of the holidays, the children and I spent a week at my parents’ house. It was a lovely break and the children got thoroughly spoilt. They ate ice cream, visited museums, went out on there scooters and saw their cousins. The children even got to spend time in the paddling pool and jumping through the same sprinkler that I used to jump through as a child.

So that was just a glimpse into our summer holidays. A snapshot. It was a wonderful six weeks and they went by very quickly. And now, as we are back doing the school run, they almost seem like a distant memory.
