New Year

Last week the lovely Amy at Everything Mummy tagged me in The New Year Tag. I planned to write a review of 2014 so this tag is perfect. Here are my answers:

What was your highlight of 2014?

My highlight for this year was Little Miss H’s first birthday. We celebrated it in numerous ways. Including a family day out to Howlett’s Wild Animal Park and a Baby Sensory party that she shared with her best friends. You can read all about our various birthday celebrations here.

It has also been wonderful seeing Little Miss H’s personality develop. Gone are the days of babyhood. She can now communicate and is great fun to be with. As a stay-at-home-mum I am in the privileged position of spending every day with Little Miss H. It is amazing to watch her grow up and change before my eyes.

What are you excited for in 2015?

We are hopefully going to be moving in 2015. I love our flat in Rochester but recently it has felt too small for the three of us. I am excited about having a house of our own with a little garden. I am looking forward to decorating it and making it a truly special family home.

Any New Years resolutions?

Only one but it is a big ‘un and can be broken down into many little resolutions. I need to take better care of myself. I haven’t done this at all in 2014 and I have suffered. I have had a lot of illnesses which has led to me taking antibiotics far too many times . I also miscarried in October and I am pretty sure that my fragile immune system wasn’t able to provide the baby with all the nutrients it needed.

2015 NEEDS to be a turning point. I am getting older and I am a mum. I can not be stupid about my health any longer. I know how to look after myself and what actions I need to take. I now need to take them.

Blogging High?

I have been blogging for a few years but 2014 was the year that I began to take this blogging lark seriously. I have a few highlights:

  • Attending Blogfest and meeting all the lovely bloggers that I now have the honour to call friends.
  • I wrote a number of more serious posts this year. Sharing my opinions and some of the most difficult times in my life. I was nervous before publishing these posts. The response I received was amazing and I am grateful to everyone who takes the time to visit my blog.
  • As you may have noticed, my blog has been redesigned and has moved sites. I am delighted that I took the plunge to do this. I love my new blog design. I get a little thrill when I see it. It is perfect.

Picture of the year?

New Year

I love this picture of the three of us. It was taken by my fabulous friend Gemma. We were out for Sunday lunch with a large group of friends. It was only a few days after the miscarriage and we were all recovering from a traumatic October.

This picture reminds me of the strength of my little family. It is the three of us against the world. It always makes me smile.

There we have it. I would love it if the following bloggers would like to join in:

Becky at 3 princesses and 1 dude

Sian at The adventures of a potty mouthed mummy

Ali at My life My love

Charlotte at Nothing good rhymes with Charlotte

What a lovely post to sit down and write! So good to look back over the year that was and remember the good things that happened. And equally good to look to the year ahead and focus on our goals and things we’d like to achieve.

I love the pic of you and your family — the best ones are always when we’re not looking aren’t they?! How gorgeous!

Happy new year to you lovely — here’s to a bright and extraordinary 2015! X

You really have had a tough year love. I hope the following 12 months, and the rest of your life for that matter, will be happier and healthier for you.
It is so hard to take time for ourselves when we are busy looking after our families. But you should take this fresh start to really dedicate some time to your health and wellbeing. You simply cannot take care of your family as well as you would like if you are not healthy and strong, in mind and body.
I adore your photo. I hope you have this framed and up on the wall! xxx

Yes you do need to take better care of yourself. Mums put themselves last but really we should put ourselves first- we are no use to anyone if we are poorly. I have started taking multivitamins so am hoping I will start to feel a bit healthier. x

You are so right honey. My big thing is sleep. I never go to bed early enough. I really need to (especially as I have a daughter who doesn’t sleep). Multivitamins are good too. I can’t wait to read all about your New Year resolutions. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
