Little Miss H adores fairy tales. Two of her favourite bedtime stories are Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. We also have a few fairy tale anthologies and touch and feel board books of Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood.
One story that was missing from our collection was The Three Little Pigs.
The Three Little Pigs – A Parragon Book

We are lucky enough to be Parragon Book Buddies and back in December we received a copy of their fabulous new version of The Three Little Pigs, which is part of their Slide and See Fairy Tales series.
The illustrations, by Mei Matsuoka, are bright and engaging. The pictures of the little piggies are cute, each with their own personality and the wolf is charming. Little Miss H calls him “fluffy” and I think we are both secretly rooting for him.

Each page includes slide and see tabs. The idea is that when you see the corresponding picture in the story you pull the tab. And it reveals more of the tale. This is a lovely addition and is perfect for toddlers, as they love a book which their grabby little hands can get involved with.
Little Miss H loves the addition of the slide and see tabs. Which she takes great pleasure in pulling out, especially when they include a huffing and puffing wolf.
The story is simple but contains all the classic elements that you expect from this tale of three piggies making their own way in the world. The wolf certainly “huffs and puffs” (Little Miss H’s favourite part of the story) and the three little pigs build their houses out of straw, sticks and bricks.
Sadly, Little Miss H seems to love destroying books at the moment. And anything with a tab or pop-up doesn’t stand a chance. But the sturdy nature of The Three Little Pigs and the slide and see tabs means that it is 100% Little Miss H-proof (at the moment anyway).
This book has become a firm favourite. Little Miss often asks for it when we are reading stories in the afternoon.
The other day, I even caught her reading it to her dollies Molly and Ruby. I eventually joined them and we had great fun huffing and puffing our way through the story.

This series also includes Little Red Riding Hood and the cutest version of The Ugly Duckling. And at only £4.99 a book, I will definitely be buying The Ugly Duckling to add to Little Miss H’s book shelf. I am sure that Molly and Ruby will love it.

Hugs
Lucy

February 26, 2016 at 8:31 amYou are so right. It does always feel that we have instilled a real love of reading and books in Little Miss H when I see her reading a book by herself. I can hear her making up the story or just saying it in her own words. it is so cute. And I adore it when she appears at my side and asks me to read to her. Those are precious moments and ones to treasure. Hugs Lucy xxxx
