Little Mister and Little Miss H have a lot of toys. But without doubt my favourite are their wooden toys.
These are the toys that are enduring classics. They are the toys that they play with over and over again and that fire their imagination.
They are also safer for them as wooden toys tend not to have any nasty chemicals. Which is handy when you have a baby who puts anything and everything in their mouth.
And my, are wooden toys pretty to look at. I swoon over Little Miss H’s wooden toy collection. All beautifully made and either brightly coloured or painted in pale pinks and whites with pretty floral designs.
In fact, Little Miss H has quite a collection. But her baby brother has only a few bits and pieces. This is something that needs to be remedied.
I have compiled a wish list of wooden toys that are perfect for babies and toddlers. I never need to be stuck for birthday and Christmas presents. This will be my shopping list.
10 wooden toys for Little Mister H
1. Animal Rescue Shape-Sorting Truck by Melissa and Doug – £10.99
This isn’t your standard shape sorter. The truck and animals add an element of imaginative play, which I love.
2. Grimm’s Large Conical Rainbow tower from Babipur – £25.99
I couldn’t write a wish list without including one rainbow. I adore the beautiful bright colours of this conical tower. It would look gorgeous in Little Mister H’s rainbow themed nursery.
3. Petilou Woodland Puzzle Blocks by Le Toy Van – £20.48
A wooden puzzle is a classic toy for a young child. The woodland creatures on this toy from Petilou by Le Toy Van are enchanting. And the puzzle pieces can also be used as building blocks.
4. Rail Dinosaur Train Set by Bigjigs – £45.99
I have been so excited about Little Mister H being given a train set. And at Christmas he received a fabulous 50 piece train set from John Lewis. But the beauty of a train set is that you can add to it. And this set includes dinosaurs. DINOSAURS. Genius!
5. Toot Toot Clutching Toy by HABA – £6.99
Little Mister H it at the age where he loves to grab toys and wave them. Sadly this isn’t just limited to toys. As my hair often gets attacked as well. This cute car clutching toy will help develop Little Mister H’s motor skills and save my hair from being pulled out.
6. Plan Toys Pet Care PlanWorld from Babipur – £24.95
I couldn’t resist this small world set. It will be brilliant for imaginative play. And the vet looks very like Mr H.
7. Haba Large Master Builder Plug and Stack from Babipur – £40.00
Every child needs beautifully bright wooden building blocks. This collection includes boards, pegs and a variety of different shapes and sizes of block. Ideal for creating wonderful fantasy worlds.
8. Wooden Rocket and Toy Car Bundle by George Home – £47.00
Little Miss H has many wooden toys from George Home. They are great quality and brilliant value. I will definitely be buying some of their toys for Little Mister H. And I have had my eye on this rocket and car transporter for a very long time.
9. Bajo Gruffalo and Mouse Figures from Babipur – £34.96
The Gruffalo is very popular in our house. These figures have movable limbs so that they can walk, run sit and stand. Hours can be spent reading the book and then acting out the antics of the mouse and his friend the Gruffalo.
10. Fire Engine ride on toy from Halfords – original price £59.99, now £20.00
We never bought Little Miss H a ride on toy. By the time we had thought about it she was too tall. I am not making that mistake with Little Mister. And this wooden fire engine ride on toy from Halfords is perfect. I can just imagine Little Mister H zooming around the living room rescuing his teddy bears from fires. So cute!
Do you like to give your children wooden toys? Which are your favourite?
