The run-up to Christmas is stressful. There always seems to be so much to do. Also with the nights closing in, it feels like there is even less time to complete the never-ending task list. When life gets like this I try to spend some time putting myself first. And a pamper night is the perfect way to do this. Here are my 5 steps to the ultimate pamper night:
5 steps to the perfect pamper night
1. A hot bath
My first step on any pamper night is always to have a hot and sweet smelling bubble bath. I light a few scented candles, pour myself a glass of wine and have a good long soak. This time to myself with the bathroom door closed is one of my favourite things in life. I just find baths so relaxing and they always give me the peace and quiet that I need when life is stressful.
2. A facial
I have always been a fan of facials. The skin on my face can become really grey and tired looking when I’m stressed. Giving myself a facial means that I can use targeted products that give my skin everything it needs. Plus, massaging these products into my skin helps melt the stress away as well as brightening my face. And the nicer the beauty products used, the more pampering the facial. Simply Be have some gorgeous gift sets full of products that are perfect to use when your skin needs some pampering.
3. Cosy PJs
After having a lovely relaxing bath, I adore being able to put on a cosy pair of pyjamas. I don’t know why, but I always feel much more relaxed when I’m lounging around in my PJs. As a person, I don’t like tight nightwear. I like my pyjamas to be loose fitting, soft and oh so comfortable. I adore this pair of pale grey and pink checked flannel PJs from Pretty Secrets and available at Simply Be. They are super flattering and they’re definitely the softest pyjamas I’ve ever worn. For me, a pamper night requires comfortable nightwear and climbing into a bed that has clean sheets. Bliss.
4. Nail polish
I always feel more together and organised with my life when I have painted nails. And so once I have my PJs on and I’ve climbed into bed then I like to paint my nails. If I have time then I will give myself a proper manicure and pedicure. But my pamper nights will at least involve my toenails and fingernails receiving a few coats of a bright polish. Seeing my nails coated with a bright bubblegum pink is guaranteed to put a smile on my face.
5. A good book
Then while my nails are drying, I drink a cup of tea and lose myself in a good book. I used to read at least 50 books a year before I had children. But now, I tend to only have time for reading if I am having a pamper night. I do miss reading. At the moment, I have a few books on the go. I’ve only just started Ferne Cotton’s book Happy but I love it. She has such an approachable style of writing and it really is the type of book that I love to read.
There are a few other elements that you can add to make sure that you have the ultimate pamper night. The finishing touches that mean you wake up the next day feeling completely relaxed and ready for whatever life throws your way.
1. Get organised for the next day. Before you begin your pamper night it is important to make sure that you’re organised for the next day. There is no point in having a lovely night to yourself if you spend the whole evening worried about what tomorrow might bring. Instead put 20 minutes aside to plan the next day. This includes laying out the clothes that you plan to wear. And why not commit to wearing a gorgeous set of lingerie. I’ve recently been wearing this stunning set from Fantasie at Simply Be.
2. Your favourite tipple. Pour yourself a glass of your favourite drink and enjoy.
3. Chocolate. Remember to indulge in your favourite bar of chocolate too.
4. Music. Put on your favourite music and sing, sing, sing. It’s good for the soul.
5. Get an early night. The perfect end to your pamper night is to snuggle down in bed and get an early night.
What do you like to do when you have a pamper night? Is there anything that I’ve forgotten?
