One of Little Miss H’s favourite activities is to do a craft project. She likes to keep busy and a decent craft project can keep her occupied for an hour or more. And so she often asks if she can do junk modelling or build something with glue. This request often leads to some eye-rolling from me, as I worry about the mess that she is going to make. Then I heard about Bunchems and we were offered the opportunity to review the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack.
Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack – A Review
In case, you’ve never heard of Bunchems let me tell you a little more about them. Bunchems are brightly coloured little balls (just larger than a marble) that are covered with tiny little hooks. This means that when you push them together they stick to one another and they can be used to make models. But the true beauty of Bunchems is that once your model is made, you can easily pull it apart to make something else. The possibilities for imaginative play are endless.
We were sent the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack. This pack includes 200 Bunchems (including amazing glow in the dark and translucent Bunchems), nine accessories and a Guide Book. Everything you need to create three specific designs – two different unicorns and one princess.
Little Miss H and the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack
I guessed that Little Miss H would want to make the princess first. And I was right. So she grabbed the Guide Book and started counting out the colours that she needed. I was really impressed with the Guide Book. Little Miss H is only just five (and the recommended age for the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack is 6+) but she had no trouble understanding the instructions. She did need a little help on occasions putting the Bunchems together in the required shape. But apart from that, this activity was ideal for independent play.
Making the Bunchems princess and unicorn also helped Little Miss H practice her counting and her repeated patterns. I do love it when a toy promotes her learning while she is having fun.
As soon as the princess was made we moved on to the unicorns. I think these were my favourite. And although our models didn’t look quite like the ones on the packet, I was pretty impressed with what we created.
Little Miss H was also very excited to learn that some of the Bunchems are glow in the dark. This just adds to the magic of the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack. Not only do they stick together and come apart by magic but they glow too.
My Thoughts On The Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack
The Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack was a fabulous activity for a rainy day during half term. It kept Little Miss H happy and occupied for almost an hour. She also loved breaking our creations apart so that she can start again another day.
My Favourite Things
And my three favourite things about the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack were:
1. Finding a toy that doesn’t require expensive batteries that need replacing every other day.
2. There was no mess. It’s very rare to find a craft activity that doesn’t involve mess and then take an age to clear up. But as the Bunchems all stick together clearing up was quick, mess-free and we were able to turn it into a fun game.
3. With many craft kits, you make the item once and that is it, there is no possibility of future play. But with the Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack, the imaginative possibilities are endless. I can’t wait to see what Little Miss H makes next.
The Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack is available to buy from all good retailers nationwide. This great toy has an age range of 6+ and retails at £12.99. You can read more information about Bunchems on the Bunchems website.
Have you ever tried Bunchems before?
The Bunchems Unicorn Theme Pack was sent to me for the purpose of this review. But as always, all thoughts, words and images are 100% my own and 100% honest.
