Okay, I know that January is nearly over but I think the January blues always drag into February. They certainly do for me anyway.
The weather is still cold and grey and miserable. Christmas seems like a long time ago and Spring hasn’t reared its beautiful head yet.
At this time of year, we all need a little pick me up. So these are my top 3 ways to beat the January blues.
3 ways to beat the January blues
Get out for a walk
When the weather is cold it is always tempting to hibernate. But instead, we like to wrap up warm and get some fresh air. Whether it is a stroll around our local wood or a bracing walk along the beach, getting out and about always makes me feel better. We’ve had some of our best family days out during the winter months.
Escape with some movies
One of my favourite things to do is to snuggle up on the sofa and escape with a movie. What could be better than to lose yourself in a great fantasy or science fiction film? We’ve been watching some fab films recently including Gravity, Pacific Rim and Christopher Nolan’s Inception. And Mr H and I are looking forward to settling down with a glass of wine and some popcorn and immersing ourselves in the world of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies; Jupiter Ascending and 300 Rise of an Empire. You too can escape from the January blues by buying all these great films.
Get an early night
It may sound sad but one of my favourite things on a dark and cold night is to get to bed early. I love to tuck myself up in bed with a good book and a cup of decaf tea. It may not be rock ‘n’ roll but it makes me happy.
Do you have any tips for surviving the January blues?
Hugs
Lucy

January 31, 2017 at 11:16 amYes, busy night always the best to make you feel great. It doesn’t really help with its raining outside and cloudy but these are some great tips to really help better the mood in January.

January 31, 2017 at 9:01 amGreat tips! I actually haven’t felt any January blues at all this year, even though I spent Christmas in the UK and it’s always a pull to come back. I love a nice walk, or just some time to myself. They usually do the trick!

January 31, 2017 at 5:47 amBoth a movie night and smuggling up in bed with a good book sound like great ways to beat the January blues. I don’t mind this time of year at all but I am looking forward to some warmer weather x

January 30, 2017 at 9:48 pmOh gosh, yes, there is nothing better than a movie night with pizza. When my husband and I first met every Friday used to be cocktails and movie night… that seems like another world too. Thanks for commenting. Hugs Lucy xxxx

January 30, 2017 at 7:51 pmI really do find January difficult, though this time it;s not been as bad as I feared it would be. Though we’ve had a lot of walks (and movies) so that’s going to have helped. Walking down on the beach (we spent a few days in Wales) really helped lift my mood, and made me wish we could live by the seaside!

January 30, 2017 at 8:12 pmThanks for your lovely comment. January is so tough because the excitement of Christmas is over and it is just cold and miserable. A walk by the sea sounds like the perfect antidote to January blues. I wish I lived by the seaside too. Hugs Lucy xxxx
