My approach to doing the laundry is very similar to my approach to tidying the house. Ignore, ignore, ignore!
It is only when the dirty clothes have almost taken over the house that I will remember that we own a washing machine. However, the real call to action will be when we don’t have any clean school uniforms, sleepsuits or underwear. And the only thing I have to wear is a work dress that hasn’t fit for five years.
This inevitably leads to my being head-deep in the washing basket, plucking out a random assortment of clothes and doing what I like to call an emergency wash. That, of course, means I need a laundry detergent that covers all the bases – which is why I’m glad I chose to take the #EcoverLaundry Challenge.
Showing our laundry some love with Ecover
I’ve always liked Ecover. Since launching their first phosphate-free washing powder in the 70s, they’ve stuck to their values by making plant-based and environmentally friendly cleaning products. I’ve been a particular fan of their multi-action spray, which we get whenever I do the shopping (don’t ask what we get when Mr H does it!)
I was sent the Ecover Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Liquid to test as part of the #EcoverLaundry Challenge. As you would expect from Ecover products, the Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Liquid is free from nasty chemicals. The Laundry Liquid has also been dermatologically tested and is therefore gentle on my children’s sensitive skin. And as it comes in environmentally friendly packaging you know that you are buying a product that is good for the planet.
Taking the challenge
I’ve used the Ecover detergent on the majority of our washes over the last week. Which means I’ve used it to wash sheets, towels, school uniform, bright clothes, woollens and Little Mr H’s bodysuits.
What I love most about the Ecover Non-Bio Concentrated Laundry Liquid is that you can use it on just about anything and still get great results. All my laundry came out of the machine smelling wonderful (as the detergent has a lovely lavender and sandalwood scent). It also works well at low temperatures and everything I washed was nice and clean afterwards.
Reaping the rewards
I think it’s fair to say I’ve had a laundry frenzy over the past week or so. And that means lots of clean uniforms for Little Miss H’s days at school and no trouble finding something for Little Mister H to wear at bedtime. But my favourite, favourite thing about clean laundry is climbing into a freshly made up bed. Which is exactly what I intend to do now!
Are you ever on top of the laundry in your house? What do you look for in a detergent? I’d love to know.
Hugs
Lucy
