This is a paid collaboration with BaByliss Big Hair Care and is part of their #loveyourhair campaign.
My hair has always been one of my favourite parts of my body. I love the colour and I like the fact it is quite versatile. I can wear it short or long and it seems to suit my face in both styles. However, my hair is very flat and lank. It is poker straight and I’ve often compared my hairstyle to Morticia Adams’ sleek look!
If I want my hair to have any volume then it needs a good blow dry. But I’m hopeless at blow-drying my own hair. So years ago, after watching a video by Sali Hughes, one of my style and beauty icons, I asked for a Babyliss Big Hair Airstyler for Christmas.
I love my BaByliss Big Hair and use it whenever I want to wear my hair down. It is the only hairstyler that has added any volume to my hair. And it means I don’t have to faff around with straighteners, hot brushes, curling tongs or heated rollers. Which not only are a pain to use but also damage my hair because of the excessive use of heat. So I was thrilled when Mumsnet and BaByliss asked me if I wanted to try the brand new BaByliss Big Hair Care. I was hugely excited.
Love Your Hair With The Brand New BaByliss Big Hair Care
Recently, I’ve been falling out of love with my hair. (I don’t think that the heat wave helped). It has felt especially lank, limp and flat. So I’ve spent most days with my hair in an up-do. But then when the weather cooled down a little I decided that I would get out my trusted BaByliss Big Hair and style my hair properly.
It makes such a difference when I use the BaByliss Big Hair. My hair does not miraculously become thick and luxurious instead the BaByliss Big Hair gives me a sleek blow-dry. Less Cindy Crawford and more Jennifer Aniston! And now I’ve been sent the BaByliss Big Hair Care to try out and compare to my old and very loved model.
What is the BaByliss Big Hair Care?
The original BaByliss Big Hair was launched in 2010. It immediately became a cult beauty product and many beauty editors, including the fabulous Sali Hughes, raved about it. And I was constantly reading articles singing its praises.
Essentially, the BaByliss Big Hair is a rotating airstyler. Hot (or cool) air is pumped out while the barrel and bristles of the styler rotate and give you a beautifully buoyant barnet.
In December 2012, I asked Father Christmas for a BaByliss Big Hair. At the time, I was three months pregnant and I hoped that the BaByliss Big Hair would help me to still look presentable once the baby was born. I needed something that was quick and efficient and would leave me with sleek and stylish hair. And I was not disappointed. It was love at first sight and since that day, I have recommended the BaByliss Big Hair to every woman I know.
Comparing My Old Model To The Brand New BaByliss Big Hair Care
I was eager to see if there were many differences between my ancient BaByliss Big Hair Airstyler and the brand new BaByliss Big Hair Care. They both leave my hair looking like it has had a blow-dry in a hair salon. But overall the changes that have been made to the BaByliss Big Hair Care mean that it is kinder to your hair.
1. The barrel on the BaByliss Big Hair Care has a different design
The barrel has a new design. And the air outlets have been precisely positioned for even airflow across the barrel. However, the BaByliss Big Hair Care still has a large 50mm ceramic barrel which is fabulous for creating volumised and frizz-free hair.
2. The bristles on the BaByliss Big Hair Care provide a smooth and shiny hairstyle
The BaByliss Big Hair Care uses soft polishing bristles and ionic frizz-control to make sure that you are left with a smooth, sleek and shiny blow-dry. The bristles are made from a mixture of flexible nylon and natural bristles which work in harmony to grip your hair as the barrel gently rotates. The BaByliss Big Hair Care also has a built-in ion generator which releases negative ions which work to neutralise the static electricity and help to smooth the hair and keep the frizz under control.
3. The BaByliss Big Hair Care features a brand new sensor protect technology
Do you ever style your hair with straighteners or tongs and worry that the heat is damaging your hair? Use of excessive heat can make hair dry and brittle.
In the Big Hair Care, the sensor protect technology makes sure that your hair receives the right amount of heat to create a perfect hairstyle. The BaByliss Big Hair Care contains a tiny computer that features a temperature sensor which measures the air temperature 20 times every second. If the air temperature gets too hot then the microcomputer decides whether to turn the heater on or off. This means that the temperature remains at a constant while you’re styling your hair.
4. The rotation speed of the BaByliss Big Hair Care is consistent
My old model BaByliss Big Hair only has the option of rotating the barrel for the two heat settings. It doesn’t rotate for the cool setting. However, the BaByliss Big Hair Care uses a single optimised rotation speed for all heat and cool settings. This allows you to use the cool setting and rotation to set your style.
Tips For Using The BaByliss Big Hair Care
It does take a few attempts to figure out how to use the Big Hair Care. My advice is to read the instructions and follow the hints and tips in there. But a few tips I’ve picked up are:
1. Make sure your hair is 80% dry before you use the BaByliss Big Hair. For added volume, tip your head upside down or brush it all to one side and rough dry it that way.
2. Before using the Big Hair Care, remove all tangles with a brush or wide-toothed comb.
3. Portion your hair into small segments and use the Big Hair Care on each section of hair in turn. I found that the BaByliss Big Hair Care works best when I use the middle of the barrel to style my hair.
4. If your hair is already 80% dry then you should only need to use the first two temperature settings on the Big Hair Care.
5. Use the cool temperature setting to set your hair and help your style last.
I’m so grateful to BaByliss for sending me the brand new Big Hair Care. I may feel like I’m cheating on my old model of Big Hair. But sometimes you just fall in love with a newer and younger model.
After weeks of wearing my hair up in buns and high ponytails, the BaByliss Big Hair Care has made me fall back in love with wearing my hair down. I will now be recommending the BaByliss Big Hair Care to everyone I know.

If you’ve found this post interesting then please remember to pin it for future reference.
Does your hair need more volume? If so, have you ever used a BaByliss Big Hair? I would love to know how you add volume in your hair. Please leave me a comment and let me know.

Disclosure:
This is a paid collaborative post with BaByliss to launch their brand new BaByliss Big Hair Care Airstyler and their #loveyourhair campaign. However, as always all words, opinions and images are 100% my own and 100% honest. Years ago I bought my own BaByliss Big Hair and it is definitely the product that I recommend more than any other item I own. You can read more about me talking about my old model BaByliss Big Hair here and here.

December 30, 2018 at 7:29 amHi — Which do you find works better on your hair – this new care version or that regular big hair version? I have read reviews that the care version doesn’t really work as well? And it’s a lot more expensive so I don’t want to risk spending so much if it doesn’t work really really well. I have very frizzy damaged hair so worried the normal one will damage it…

December 30, 2018 at 2:06 pmI really like the new Care version and do think it is kinder on my hair. In my opinion, it is better than the original because it makes my hair look smoother and shinier. I hope you decide to buy it. Hugs Lucy xxxx

September 3, 2018 at 7:20 pmMy hair is very thin and lank, so anything that could give it a boost without putting product in it, would be fab! Sprays etc don’t work well in my hair but I am keen to give this a go. Your hair looks wonderful in the photos xxx

September 3, 2018 at 6:51 pmOh wow! I really struggle with my hair going flat or frizzy, so this sounds perfect for me! Can I use it on wet hair? Or do I need to blow dry first?

August 29, 2018 at 5:57 pmAs I’m getting older I’ve really noticed a difference in my hair. It’s lacking volume and feels thinner. I’ve an under active thyroid which I don’t think helps. I must look into this as it could solve my problem. Thank you.

August 26, 2018 at 9:45 pmI’ve got naturally curly hair, which mostly I like but I’d love to be able to blow it out straight sometimes. It always feels special when it is sleek and smooth. Mich x

August 26, 2018 at 7:10 amThis sounds exactly what I need in my life! I’m terrible at blowdrying my hair – I just aim the hairdryer and fluff my hair about until it’s dry – but this might actually have a hope of teaching me how to do it properly. My biggest hair problem at the moment is the lack of volume which has happened as I’ve got older, so this sounds like it would be ideal.
