We were sent the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles ‘Mermal Magic’ Season 5 for the purpose of this review. But all thoughts, opinions and imagery are my own and are 100% honest.
Little Miss H loves surprise toys. And she has been desperate to get her hands on some Hatchimals CollEGGtibles for quite a while. So she was thrilled when we were invited to review Hatchimals CoLLEGGtibles season 5, ‘Mermal Magic’.
Hatchimals CollEGGtibles ‘Mermal Magic’ Season 5 – Review
What Are Hatchimals CollEGGtibles ‘Mermal Magic’?
Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Season 5 brings some ‘Mermal Magic’ to Hatchtopia with a new mermaid-themed collection. The Mermals are half-Hatchimal and half-mermaid characters (yes, they do have their own fish tails) and are as cute as a button. Little Miss H adores them.
There are over 80 characters to collect and as well as Mermals, your surprise eggs could contain other friendly underwater creatures including starfish, pufferfish or even Mermal twins. And each set of Hatchimals CollEGGtibles comes with its own collector’s guide so that you can tick them off as you collect them. Little Miss H loves doing this.
As well as there being over 80 characters to collect, there are common, rare, ultra rare, limited edition and treasure trio Mermals to collect. And Little Miss H was over the moon to find that her 6-Pack Shell Carry Case included Sapphire Hummingbear, the one and only precious pearl.
How Do You Hatch Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic?
Little Miss H did struggle with some of the hatching of the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic. But once we both got the hang of it she was joining in as well.
To Hatch your Mermals from their shimmery shell shaped eggs start by holding the egg in the palm of your hand. Then begin to rub the purple heart until it turns pink. Once the heart has turned pink then you can gently press down on the egg to crack the shell and meet your new underwater friend.
Why Are Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic Different?
Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic come in a range of pretty shaped shell like eggs. Each one is glittery and ombre. And it almost seems a shame to crack them open to hatch the Mermal inside. They come in different shapes and colours depending on the family that the Mermal hiding inside is from. For example, the 6-Pack Shell Carry-Case contains special orange shells and is one of the only places that you can collect characters from the Sapphire Springs family. You can also collect special edition characters from Sunshine Surf, Mischief Marsh, Racing River and Blissful Bay.
Yet, the most amazing thing about the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic is their special secret surprise. Thanks to colour changing technology the Mermals change colour under warm water (ideally 35°C). This was Little Miss H’s favourite thing about the Mermals. Luckily we opened them up on a warm day and Little Miss spent a couple of happy hours playing with them in some water outside in the garden.
What Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic Were We Sent?
We were sent the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic 1 Pack (S.R.P £2.99); 2 Pack and Nest (S.R.P £4.99); 4 Pack and Bonus (S.R.P £9.99) and 6 Pack Shell Carrying Case (£12.99) to review. The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic 1-Pack is a perfect pocket money purchase. Or is ideal for party bags (I will be handing them out in Little Miss H’s party bags at her party in May). They could also make the perfect Easter gift if you are looking to buy an egg that is non-chocolatey.
The added feature of the nest with the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles 2-Pack can be used underwater. It is perfect for playing with or for displaying your Mermals in their shell shaped sparkly eggs once they’ve hatched.
The 4-Pack And Bonus has one Hatchimal already out of its egg. This meant that Little Miss H didn’t have to immediately start hatching her eggs but instead could start playing straight away.
But Little Miss H’s favourite was the 6-Pack Shell Carry Case. She really did love the characters from Sapphire Springs the most. And these are the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles that live inside the pretty orange shells of the 6-pack shell . Sapphire Springs Hatchimals are adorable underwater friends that each hold a special jewel that changes colour under warm water.
Not only did Little Miss H love this set the most because it contained the precious pearl, Sapphire Hummingbear, and her favourite of all the Mermals, Sapphire Draggie. But she also loved all the extra features that come with this set.
The shell can be closed up and becomes the perfect carry case to keep all your Mermals safe. And the 6-Pack Shell Carry Case also comes with a unique set of stickers that have been inspired by the Mermal Magic of Season 5. Little Miss H can’t wait to decorate her beautiful shell carry case and make it even more Hatch-tastic.
Needless to say, Little Miss H loves her Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Mermal Magic. And I’m already planning on buying her some more for her birthday.
Hugs
Lucy
