Well hello and welcome to the first “Mrs H’s 10 favourite things” post.
I have been meaning to start writing these posts for a while now.
I often discover fabulous Netflix programmes, a gorgeous new lipstick, a beautiful dress for Little Miss H or a cute babygrow for Little Mister H. And I have nowhere to rave about them.
That is why I am starting this monthly post. A post where I share my favourite things.
This month I am being a little sneaky and including some pregnancy items from May and June in my July round up.
And I am sorry that the post is late. Who would have thought that having a 5 week old baby and a 3 year old would be so time consuming?!
My 10 favourite things – May/ June/ July
1. Little Mister H
Obviously, my favourite thing from the past few months has been the arrival of Little Mister H. He turned up 11 days early and is now almost 6 weeks old. He is completely scrumptious and we all adore him.
2. Bambini & Me Bamboo Bunny Romper Suit and Swaddling Blanket*
Before Little Mister H was born we were lucky enough to be sent some gorgeous products from Bambini & Me (the Crystal Blue Bamboo Swaddle Blanket*, Bamboo Romper Suit* and some reusable Bamboo Breast and nursing pads*).
I have totally fallen in love with these products and this brand. Both the swaddle blanket and the romper suit come in the most gorgeous fabrics. I adore the beautiful pastel colours and the cute animal patterns.
These products are made from bamboo which makes them beautifully soft and perfect for sensitive skin. The material is also breathable which means that our little dude hasn’t overheated in the recent hot weather. Plus Little Mister H looks super smart in his bunny romper suit (as you can see in the photo above).
3. Dyson v8 Absolute Cordless Vacuum*
I never thought I would be excited about a vacuum cleaner. But then I was given the opportunity to review the Dyson v8 Absolute Cordless Vacuum* and from the moment I opened the box I was smitten.
And I am still in love with this amazing cordless vacuum.
It is lightweight, compact and easy to carry around the house. This was perfect when I was heavily pregnant and is brilliant now when I tend to have one arm filled with a baby.
I am always amazed (and a little horrified) at how quickly and efficiently it picks up dust, crumbs and bits of PlayDoh from our carpet. Vacuuming the house now takes half the time that it used to with my old cleaner.
I produced a little video giving an overview and a review of the Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner.
4. Netflix
My enduring love for Netflix continues.
Over the past few months, I have watched a number of fabulous box sets. I cried when I watched the final ever episode of Gossip Girl. How could I get through a day without following the antics of Blair, Serena and Chuck?
Thankfully, the Gossip Girl shaped hole in my life has been partially filled by Pretty Little Liars and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Kimmy Schmidt is brilliant and it also has the best theme tune ever.
5. Nimble Babies Milk Buster Baby Bottle Wash*
A few months ago, I moaned on Twitter that I could never get Little Miss H’s milk bottles clean. I was beginning to worry that they would become a breeding ground for bacteria.
The people at Nimble Babies came to our rescue and offered to send me a bottle of Nimble Babies Milk Buster Baby Bottle Wash*. This miraculous spray is designed to gently detach milk fats and proteins from plastic.
In 2 sprays, it leaves Little Miss H’s bottles looking and smelling as good as new. A little goes a long way. And one 200ml bottle has lasted me over 2 months (a complete bargain for £5.99).
6. Visit to Hever Castle
Back in June, Little Miss H, Mr H and I visited Hever Castle.
Hever Castle was Anne Boleyn’s childhood home. I love Tudor history and particularly the lives of Henry VIIIth’s wives. So I was really looking forward to our visit.
The house and grounds are stunning. There is a huge amount to see. And after a yummy picnic we set off to explore.
The highlight of the day was going around the water maze. We only got soaked once and had great fun running around the maze and trying to avoid all the water.
7. H&M Girls Basic Jersey Dresses
Little Miss H has lived in H&M Girls Basic Jersey Dresses all summer.
These dresses are gorgeous and are available in a number of pretty designs. (Little Miss H may have most of them hanging up in her wardrobe). And they are the perfect dress to wear whilst mucking about in the garden, walking in the woods or playing in the sandpit.
8. GAP Kids Hello bag
My parents bought Little Miss H this GAP Kids bag the other week. And I adore it. I wish that they made a larger version as it would make the perfect tote to take shopping.
9. Yoga and Mindfulness for Pregnancy and Birth with Nadia Raafat DVD*
I suffered with Piriformis Syndrome during my pregnancy with Little Mister H. Eventually I started seeing an osteopath as I was becoming immobile. He recommended that some stretching and strengthening exercises, like pregnancy yoga, would help. So I was delighted when I was asked to review the Yoga & Mindfulness for Pregnancy and birth with Nadia Raafat DVD*.
The DVD contains a five class programme of yoga and mindfulness for pregnancy and birth. Each class takes you further on your journey towards birth.
I found this DVD so helpful in my pregnancy. Nadia is a lovely presenter and I warmed to her immediately. The yoga exercises were simple but I still felt that I was gently pushing my pregnant body. And they really helped to loosen up my back.
But my favourite part of the DVD was the mindfulness exercises. I was suffering from anxiety throughout the pregnancy and these sessions helped me to calm my mind and focus on my breathing. Skills that really helped me through labour.
10. Amazing family and friends
We are very blessed to have many amazing friends and family.
We have been shocked and delighted at how generous everyone has been with their support since Little Mister H has been born.
We’ve been sent many gorgeous cards and presents. Some fabulous blogging friends organised for a large Ocado delivery to arrive a few days after leaving the hospital. And we have been inundated with visitors who have also helped hugely with meals and childcare. Thank you so much all you wonderful people.
Do you have any favourite products from the past few months? I would love to hear about them in the comments.
Hugs
Lucy
